Rules of Briscola

Deck of cards: The game is played with a 40-card deck divided into 4 suits (Cups, Coins, Swords, Clubs). Card values:
  • Ace = 11 points
  • 3 = 10 points
  • King = 4 points
  • Knight = 3 points
  • Jack = 2 points
  • 7, 6, 5, 4, 2 = 0 points
Objective: The goal is to score the most points by winning valuable cards during the hands. The game ends when all the cards in the deck have been played, and the player or team with the highest score wins. Gameplay:
  • Dealing the cards: At the start of the game, each player is dealt three cards. The next card from the deck is revealed and placed under the deck: the suit of this card becomes the Trump suit (Briscola).
  • Turn order: Each player, in turn, plays one card. The second player responds with another card. If one of the two cards played is a Trump, the player who played the Trump card wins the “trick.” If both are Trump cards, the player who played the higher-value Trump wins the trick. If neither card is a Trump, the higher-value card wins if both cards are from the same suit. If the suits are different, the first suit played wins.
  • Trick: The winner of the trick collects the cards and sets them aside for final scoring. After each trick, players draw one card from the deck, starting with the winner of the previous trick.
  • End of the game: When all the cards in the deck have been played and all the tricks have been taken, players add up the points they have collected. The player or team with the highest score wins.
